How do you do an email campaign?

1. Develop a list of users/customers/subscribers who have expressly said that they want to receive your mailings. If you have a website, put a subscription box on your site explaining what users will receive and the frequency of mailings to them. Or if you are offering an ebook for free download, put a box in the info form and ask them to check it if they wish to receive your mailings. Developing a mailing list for pure opt-in subscribers may take years depending on the popularity of your site and the attractiveness of your offerings

2. Prepare your email. Decide whether you will do an HTML campaign or a pure text campaign

3. Write the content of your email -- bearing in mind the things that often trip the spam filters and cause your mailings to be blocked by the ISP. An example is the words "free" . You can use free spam-scoring tools such as Gravity Mail www.gravitymail.com/spamscore.php

4. Get whitelisted. Apply to AOL to be included in their white list http://postmaster.aol.com/guidelines/sen... . Check with other ISPs

5. Decide on how you want to send your mailings. You can use software such as e-Campaign http://www.lmhsoft.com/ecamp/ ; use your web host's mailing software, or use third party services such as Constant Contact http://www.constantcontact.com

6. Track your results. Monitor how many people open your emails and click on your links. Constant Contact, Lyris and other similar services offer tracking and monitoring data.

Are you talking about Spamming? Unsolicited email is spam and illegal (even though we get a bombed with them everyday). There are places you can buy leads. These are the opt-in lists. You could just google "opt-in list" and I am sure you can find what you are looking for. Please make sure I am not on your list! :)
