If I am doing a mass email campaign, what type of response is typical? Half of 1% like traditional mail?

This answer can vary greatly. It's important that you use a service like Vertical Response (www.verticalresponse.com) Constant Contact, or Campaigner to create your campaigns- DO NOT SPAM people- it will only hurt your business.





Assuming that you are using a opt-in list (people who have asked to be contacted by you) or a quality third party opt-in list you should see an open rate close to 50% - again assuming you have crafted a good subject line and relevant offer.





How do you define response? Buying something or simply showing interest or click throughs. If your click through is only .5% then I would say you have a created an campaign that did not work. You shoild see click-through rates anywhere from 2%-10% for a well designed campaign.

Using a good web-based campaign tool will help you get good metrics.
